King George commands

And we obey, over the hills and far away.
Eleven guineas is better offer to become a volunteer and make your mark on the recruitment form than a mere 'forty shillings on the drum' as the song  'O'er the hills' says.
We saw this fabulous letterpress poster at the Muckleburgh Collection, it was tucked away in a corner overpowered by all the military hardware but it is a lovely piece of social history. The copywriter certainly pressed all the buttons with his offer. A cash bounty, good food and drink, and money from prizes taken along with 'Dashing' and 'Young Heroes'.
The only small snag to your hastily chosen career would be that you could get killed or maimed in action.
There's a downside to every job I suppose.
