The last cut of asparagus, the end of the Purple Passion,
It's the traditional end of the season and now the plants are left to grow and gather their energy and strength for next year. So, if we want asparagus, it's imported asparagus from the market or the supermarket.
Meanwhile the season of plenty rolls on with strawberries, black currants, beetroot, salad crops, broad beans, potatoes, and this morning the first fresh peas.
Fortunately Jack Russells don't seem like asparagus.
Now that is a bonus.
