Pike fishing is suspended yet again; the favourite fishing places on drains, rivers and lakes frozen over with a roof of ice that is getting thicker by the minute. As yet there hasn't been any snow but the forecasters keep on promising it, while on local TV and radio the council tells us it's at full readiness with gritters and snow ploughs. Let's see what happens tonight.
Meanwhile let's have another beer and stoke up the wood burner, that is if I can get past the Jack Russells sprawled on the rug warming their bellies.
Outside the waterways are caught in the icy grip of the freeze and the dead bait will have to stay where it is, in the freezer.
