Pirate. The Jack Russell that loves to rat...
Number Six in a series of terrier linocuts

No walk is complete without him, or her, diving into a ditch, disappearing under a henhouse, getting stuck in a rabbit hole or digging in a hedge bottom; in all cases the muckier the better and if it's raining, that's a bonus.

Teeth have been lost and all this because of an insatiable desire to chase, absorb the punishment and kill rats. To paraphrase Robert Louis Stevenson's character Long John Silver, 'them as dies 'll be the lucky ones...'

He could just as easily be called Patch or Spot. This terrier is truly a lovable rogue, if he's yours that is, around other animals he's dangerous and unpredictable but he loves children and is a real small boy's dog; mischief and mischief going hand in hand.

Right, where's my catapult, air pistol and marbles?
