What's in a name?

After three years of living in West Norfolk our awareness of the area has grown but we still ask the farmers and locals as many questions as ever. Most of the time we get an answer that satisfies our curiosity but sometimes we get the 'I've never thought about that' type of answer.
Drove names can be particularly interesting; usually they are named after someone that lived there or perhaps something topographical or an event. We've got so curious about them that we've started 'collecting' them.
Horsehead Drove? Did Don Corleone live here? Burnt Chimney Drove? That must have been some chimney fire to get a drove named in its honour. As for Little Mare Fen the County Council can't even set the words up with the correct spacing. Maybe they'd run out of space?
There'll be more oddities to follow.
