Bruised and battered

The evening sky looks as if it has taken a bit of a beating and it has the bruises all over it to prove the point.
After a week of heavy rain with very few breaks in the cloud the sun was trying, somewhat unsuccessfully, to break through and give us all a cheery sunset. Eight out of ten for that effort sunshine but you were overpowered by all the cloud, still a rather splendid  effort though.
Meanwhile the West Norfolk skies continue to provide us with dramatic and spectacular entertainment which will probably involve more rain in the coming weeks.

  1. We haven't had a sky like that for weeks John, not since my last Stour trip when I had a jack on a lob! It's been dark, wet and windy ever since, but not cold enough for a proper burn up. Getting colder though, feel it today - bloomin grass is still growing! TTFN Dickie

  2. I once had a 15lb pike on lobworm, on the River Whitewater. It's somewhere in the Caught by The River archives. Mike, our son, caught an eight pound pike on the Kennet while winding back with cheese paste on the hook. ATB, John

  3. Dickie, type The Whitewater pike takes the worm into the CBTR search box and you'll see it. It was a lovely fish. ATB, John

  4. Cracking fish! Nice bit of cane too John. I had a pike on the Avon last year on a lump of spam, thought it was a huge barbel, went ballistic! TTFN Dickie
