Available for a fall-down price

We saw this vision, this trulyunique wooden conversion project through the pouring rain the other day, what an opportunity to modernise something really characterful into a contemporary home.
Somebody has made a start it would seem, well there's been a small amount of scaffolding erected, so the conversion project must begin to happen sometime soon.
I said to the boss, who was up in the turret wiping the rain and steam off her goggles, that the chimney stacks seem sound and the pantile roof looks good plus there's also a highly fishable drain right in front of it too. Pike and perch perfect you could say. Come on, what could possibly go wrong?
The answer? She simply said shut up and drive on fool.

The end of the road

Certainly it's the end of the road for this little fellow.
I found him lying on the grass by the back gate when I was taking the two terriers for their early morning walk. There's no damage on him. or her, and why why the shrew's toes curled up I simply do not know.
Maybe the heat has been just too much or dehydration played a part in the little creatures demise. I'm always surprised just how small these little animals are and usually the only thing I see relating to them are their bones in the barn owl pellets by the old apple trees and old farm buildings.

It's Friday morning as we go through the back gate with the two Jack Russell Terriers there's another dead shrew lying on the flagstones. Bizarre. There's no visible damage on the little creature so precisely what has killed them both who knows? Maybe it is the heat and dehydration taking its toll on them. Looking at the little corpses makes you wonder just how big they are when they…

Garden resident mows grass

For some strange and unknown reason a young rabbit has decided to take up residence in the front garden. He trundles around eating the dandelions and clover but we are unable to see what the real attraction is.
Perhaps there is a safety element but the din from the two Jack Russell Terriers every time they see him on the lawn is deafening. Our farmer neighbour has asked why the rifle hasn't been pressed into service. My reply was he's doing no harm and the family like to see him, he certainly isn't damaging any crop or fruit trees so, live and let live.
No doubt when myxomatosis comes around, as it always does, he'll be wandering around in distressed circles and then I'll have to do the decent thing with the .410 and put him out of his misery.
Until then you are safe my friend.

An unusual formation

We were sitting out in the back garden one evening last week watching the movement of the clouds when the lower level cloud formations began to open out revealing some really strange formations way, way up in the sky.
Are they Lenticular clouds? We don't know but, as always, just as the visibility of the strange cloud formations began to increase the lower clouds began to close in and shut the view down. We can only assume that the clouds high in the sky were seen as rarer, sexier and more glamorous and because of that the lower cloud formations censored them.
Rotten spoilsports.
