Meanwhile back in the 1930's or would it be the 1920's? A farmhouse I know well is going to be brought up-to-date by new owners and because of the condition of the building it is almost a rebuild. New glazing, wiring, plumbing, heating, floors and inevitably the fireplaces will be removed and woodturners linked to the heating and hot water will be fitted. The march of time I suppose. You can't help but wonder how many family occasions the fireplaces have seen.
