Angling in Zanderland. Early doors

Seven weeks since opening day and five fishing sessions on the board. The five sessions include one blank on a cold, wet, miserable evening where I'm sure that even the fish had gone to the pub for a pint.
The bag has been as mixed as the weather; an eel of about 3lb, lots of rudd and roach up to a pound or so, skimmer bream, small perch and a very large perch lost at the net, I can still see the eye looking up at me before the dive into the alder roots. Even in retrospect it was big, and now it's become a haunting. And finally a lovely common carp looking just how a carp should look, golden and beautifully scaled - very Japanese.

Still no tench though and my 34 years without catching a tench is shaping up to be 35 years at this rate. I have lost a couple but that doesn't count, not even as mitigating circumstances, just frustrating circumstances.
Another session this week and it will be the 'swim of the lost perch' opposite the overgrown island and next to the roots. Mind you that's the swim the carp came from too.
