Hanging on the gallery wall

The North East corner

Three lino-cuts adapted from references in my sketch books, references that were gathered in the mid-sixties while at Art School. 'Sunset. Rising Sun Colliery', 'The light side of the moon' and 'Another day in paradise'. They are all old colliery and industrial landscapes in the North East, landscapes that have disappeared forever along with the communities that died with the industries.

Looking at the sketch books is like taking a trip back in time. If you have time on your hands take a trip to the far North East corner; to Teesside; to Tyneside and everything between. You will meet lovely people and see  new landscapes where the pits, foundries and shipyards used to be.
