Orange October

On a meandering journey to a nearby town, with me driving and the boss in the turret, we spotted this splendid field of pumpkins and this photograph shows only a tiny section of the field.
You can almost see the newspaper headline; 'Under blue skies and with sweltering temperatures parts of West Norfolk are turning orange'. Just for a change they wouldn't be wrong or exaggerating. No doubt the sun will make for a bumper crop of even bigger pumpkins but where will they all go? Halloween heads or bulk for pet food,  jam and pies? That's a lot of pies.
There are no birds to be seen in the pumpkin fields, it would take a big crow to fly away with one of those.  Imagine a pumpkin being dropped from two hundred feet! Thank goodness the only life seems to be the ant-like harvesters.
When we pass later today, just to check you understand, they'll probably be four times the size and halfway up the power lines. Now who's exaggerating!
