As we travel around Norfolk, me driving and the boss in the turret, there are many little beacons of pleasure that we enjoy seeing. For quite a while a village hall has been out of action because of an arson attack but soon, very soon, it will be re-opening. This village hall being restored to its former glory means the triumphal return of our favourite sign writer.
Whoever he or she is the signs are a work of art, no computer type relegating them to the ordinary; just a big board, a brush, a limited palette in terms of colour, clear vision and absolutely no self-conscious reserve.
The signs will soon be back so there will be more to follow these notable examples from last winter. Watch this space and Elvis will be in the hall before you can say sign writing.
