Yet another rural pub has closed its doors for the last time. It is becoming a complete derelict with tatty flags and boarded up windows and the brewery name is still visible.
No more locally brewed real ale or fine imported lagers are going to be sold here. If the planners and developers get their way it will be developed as a house or knocked down to create a space for more housing.
The old customers have gone somewhere else or stayed at home and drunk their cheaper supermarket beer. There is no doubt that the supermarkets have changed the face of retailing and communities in many ways and they haven't changed it for the better, never mind the brewers, just ask the farmers and the small shopkeepers.
Meanwhile The Red Hart Inn is dead and slowly decomposing.
