Pillbox in arcadia

Out on patrol, looking for suitable fishing spots, me driving and the boss in the turret, we came across this rugged and careworn beauty that looks as if it could tell a few stories.
Squatting menacingly by the river and listing slightly, it has a well worn and patinated antique air about it. We particularly like the reinforcing rods that look like teeth in a gaping mouth and the white highlights on the window in shadow. Then there is the Claude Lorrain like pastoral touch with the swan and the naples yellow wash of sunlight on the sedges and grass.
What more can we say, except 'save your local pillbox'.
Now to ring English Heritage and the National Trust. I could offer to do the guided tours dressed like Captain Mainwaring or Corporal Jones and the boss could dress up too, in forties gear I hasten to add, and run the gift shop and tea shop.
      Well, perhaps not!
