The twilight of the thunderbox

This wonderful example of a portable loo was found standing alone in a forgotten corner of a farmyard.
A thunderbox in faded camouflage colours or is it a touch of Farrow & Ball heritage colours in willow green and sage green? Those heavy duty hinges were definitely made to last too, no reinforced plastic here.
Standing on it's pallet with the weeds growing up around it the glory days are clearly over and there will be no more positioning in the corner of an orchard or field under those huge blue skies.
No doubt it has provided more relief for fruit and vegetable pickers than was ever felt at Mafeking, you almost want to pin a medal ribbon just above the latch. Nevertheless it may be mothballed but could still be available and ready for action should it be needed.
Look at the Norfolk Bog Door Blue that isn't on the door either.
