Power lines

We were wondering one day, whilst out walking the dogs, do the pigeons, rooks and all the other birds that land on the power lines get tingling claws?
Maybe it's some kind of avian alternative therapy, electric ley lines and all that. Perhaps power lines work like heated motorcycle grips warming the claws on a cold morning and getting the stiffness out of old claws.
The last of the migrating swallows and house martins had a stopover on a grey mid-October day and we thought it was just to re-charge their metaphorical batteries for the long journey to Africa.
These tiny birds must fly on very small batteries and they will definitely need to be Duracell Plus.
