Boxing Day pike

This linocut depicts one of the traditional days for a pike fishing expedition which is just the thing to blow away the cobwebs and the effects of over indulgence the previous day, but it's safe to say the same applies to New Years Day too.
Meanwhile the angler is hoping that the pike feel like indulging themselves with his fastidiously chosen and presented baits. Minnow the Jack Russell watches on, bored, convinced that ratting is better than piking and a lot more active and action packed too.
Two red pike floats bob on the calm water, one in the margins and another further out and a red knitted bobble hat bobs on the anglers head. No doubt the hat was a special present from mum, or a great aunt, to celebrate Christmas and an obsession with the Boro, otherwise known as Middlesbrough Football Club for the uninitiated.
Sorry about the crease, it runs vertically on this card.
