The Grebe

Grebes are jolly birds, despite being mercilessly hunted by the Victorians who used their feathers to adorn fashionable ladies hats.
Strangely we've never seen one flying, only swimming on the surface of the rivers, drains and lakes. When they dive to go fishing just time their underwater journey. They have the ability to bob up yards and yards away from where you expect them, looking like a submarine's periscope as they surface.
If the grebes are diving, there are small fish there, so they are indicators of where to start your pike fishing session. Mind you they're not a guarantee of success.
This small print is a linocut in four colours and is on a greetings card produced for the boss. They come in very handy when you are organising a tank commanders re-union.
