The ice age in Zanderland

We had a quick reconnaissance patrol this morning to check the fishing possibilities, me driving and the boss in the turret, but the water everywhere is gripped by an icy fist in a snowy landscape.

There was a brief moment of excitement at what looked like some clear water but a well aimed brick delivered on a mortar-like trajectory simply proved that the ice was an inch or so under the water. There was a small splash and that twanging sound that ice makes. The water lying on top of the ice was obviously from melted snow that fell in Saturday night's blizzard.
Two of the favourite stretches below are not looking very promising either so the dead baits will have to remain on stand-by in the freezer, but we'll check again later today.
      Then it'll freeze again.
