Winter and the snowy weather and freezing temperatures have brought a new drama to the landscape. The winter wheat really is winter wheat under the snow despite the wind trying to blow it clear.
The landscape looks a little like the retreat from Moscow. Whilst we were surveying the snowscape we did hear the sound of a large capacity diesel engine but the sound wasn't coming from a T34 or a Panzer tank, it was just a huge John Deere tractor passing down the farm road behind us.
More cold nights and days to follow so it's time to light the wood burner and make a cup of tea.
