While the kettle was boiling this morning, and the two terriers were being ushered out of the back door for their early morning pressure relief, a glimpse skywards revealed this strange cloud formation.
Changing rapidly it metamorphosed from waves into a barley sugar twist and then simply disappeared by being absorbed back into the main body of the cloud.
Are these strange wave-like formations billows or stratocumulus billows, and how are they formed?
I have no idea, the boss needs her early morning tea, the terriers need feeding and walking so there's no room for meteorological musings.
However the research will continue into this mystery.
