The last day of the coarse fishing season is upon us and I hope to see the fat lady; a lovely big fat lady pike to be precise, just like the pike chasing the big roach in the Arthur Rackham pen and ink drawing above.
It hasn't been a truly brilliant season but considering the amount of time invested in fishing the results have been pretty good. Big perch, a reasonably large common carp, some cracking roach, a lot of pike and a first ever zander.
Looking at it from that perspective the season has been pretty good, what am I moaning about! Now, for next season I must make a note in the diary to break what will be, by then, twenty eight years without catching a tench.
I'll get Andrews of Arcadia up here for the opening day, June 16, that'll sort the twenty eight year old tench-fasting problem out.
