Sign from the times

The Victorians and Edwardians had a way with stating the obvious and making trivial things seem more important than they really were. Either way the vision is far more impressive than a stick-on vinyl sign all cracked and peeling.
On this primary school building the boys entrance is labelled 'boys' but, let's face it, on your first day you found out where it was and in you went, no signage needed really.
If you got it wrong you went up the chimney, learnt the Old Testament off-by-heart or repaired the roads as punishment. With that kind of punishment you'd do a week of 'dry-runs' before you even started at the school.
Now here's the sad part, the sign showing the girls entrance has been bricked over in the name of 'modernisation'.
To keep the Biblical theme going they must have been Philistines.
