Animal house

We were waiting for the keeper to arrive at a lake that we fish when we became aware of the hive of activity in the dead ash tree behind us. There were, on the avian front: wood pigeons, wrens, blackbirds, chaffinches, a greenfinch, tree sparrows and hedge sparrows. That was all we saw before they flew away to a safe distance so that they could berate us for disturbing their tranquility.
Goodness knows how many insects and bugs live in there too, not mention the scrabbling and rustling that was going in the ivy and the jungle at the base of the tree.
That thought had the boss getting some distance between her and the tree, straight back to the turret.
Bugs, flies, wasps, mice and rats. No way, I'll wait in the turret and check the range.
