Where the tits hung out

This is the traffic cone that the Great Tits selected for their family home. The young have flown the nest and although we watched for them going we missed their launch into the world.
The only curiosity left to be satisfied was to find out just what the nest was like. At the bottom of the cone was an inch or more of moss mixed with horsehair and wool plus what looked like the sort of fluff that you remove from the filter of your tumble dryer.  The mixture covered the whole inner area of the base.
Interestingly there was no mess or bird droppings anywhere in the nest so if you have to share a nest with a bird make it a great tit, they're fastidious and spotlessly clean.
In fact they're so clean and tidy you could take one home to meet your mum.
