Nothing to do with 'The Band', do you remember the scene in 'The Blues Brothers' when Elwood and Jake see the light? If not, just make sure you watch the film again, preferably tonight and get yourself some 'churching'.
This is yet another fabulous sky taken from the front of the house and what a wonderful display of chiaroscuro it is, the full on opalescent celestial display.
Apparently this effect is sometimes called Crepuscular Rays and an old nautical term for it is Apollo's Backstays. It is also known by some as Jacob's Ladder just to further the confusion.
The other names sound far more romantic than Stratocumulus and meanwhile the celestial light continues to shine on the farthest northern marches of Arcadia.
