First Pike

The first Pike of the season, lying in the forty eight inch landing net, that's just so you know it was almost forty two inches long. After the photo session he, or she, went straight back into the river to terrify all the little Roach, Rudd, Gudgeon and Perch.
In the late winter it will be a bit heavier, at the moment it does look a bit lean and hungry. It was certainly hungry because it absolutely piled into the Smelt that was being used for bait.
The next expedition is coming up soon, I can't wait; lets hope the Pike feel the same.
