Can you see it? Well it's not actually a ball but a pumpkin, about eighteen inches in diameter and it's also very hard and heavy. It came flying off a trailer load of pumpkins being taken to the depot for cleaning and packing.
A road runs right next to this stretch of river and this is a bend that will be forever known as 'Pumpkin Corner'. Every year I fish here and every year I have had a near miss. As Al Capone said, 'once is an accident, twice is a coincidence but three times is a declaration of war'. Next year I'll leave this stretch alone until the pumpkin season is over.
If it had hit me it wouldn't be 'spot the ball' it would have been 'see the stars'!
