A Victorian satellite dish?

Just what can have inspired this strange roof finial 'thing'? Whilst the one below, we feel, has a more ecclesiastical look to it.
So, after a further walk around the area with the two terriers we reckon that the 'thing' at the top is an early Victorian design for a satellite dish and the one below? That is quite simply a nice way to end your ridge tiling.
Builders and architects, let's see more of this delightful detailing please.
There must have been a special catalogue for all these decorations and being a Victorian or Edwardian roofer must have been interesting with all of the dragons, flowers, birds, griffins and satellite dishes to choose from.
