There be Dragons



      Another example of idiosyncratic architectural detailing from the Victorians, this time adorning a public house. This lovely ornament was found during our long-range patrol to Berkshire and it must have been inspired by paper silhouettes and cut-outs.
      The dragon looks a right nasty piece of work and with his somewhat swollen neck we reckon he's just eaten. The tail looks a little vicious too.
      Maybe he's still seen by drinkers leaving at closing time, I really must try the beer in that pub next time we are in the deep South.
