Not faded 'Old Glory' but a wind blown version looking just a little bit worse for wear.
Well that's an understatement really, the 'Stars and Stripes' that fly on a neighbour's flagpole looks as if it has been through a major sea battle but the damage has all been caused by the relentless wind.
You can see just how strong the wind is by the bend in the flagpole and, apart from the odd 'flat calm' day, the gale seems to have been with us for weeks.
The snap of the soaking flag in the wind gives you a bit of a start as you walk past too, perhaps the soaking fabric is what speeds up the ripping and tearing.
It's got a knot in it too, very clever stuff wind.
