As good as they look

Discovery apples, perfectly ripe and ready to be picked; the trees are absolutely laden with fruit, the branches bending to the orchard floor. We can see that this year there is going to be an absolutely bumper crop of pretty well everything that grows in the orchard. Maybe the trees have compensated for the lousy wet spring, or maybe the conditions were just perfect for apples and pears.
Meanwhile one of the terriers always picks himself an apple and plays with it as a tennis ball substitute on his daily walk. We just eat them.
Believe me they really do taste as good as they look.
