Wind, heavy rain, a canopy in full leaf and heavily in fruit proved to be a bad combination for this Tsar plum tree. Age played a part too, as can be seen in the dark old wood in the middle of the tree.
The Tsar plum trees in this orchard are old and a little neglected but the fruit is delicious and this year the crop is particularly heavy.
It's ironic that the heavy crop could prove to be the end of this old tree.
