A terrier's journey to the Terrier Book

          The 'terrier' book grew from ideas and doodles made when we were on holiday in Wales with Pike and Rufus. In fact the germ of the idea came from simply watching our Jack Russells and their antics, as well as those of other people's dogs. The original concept was produced as an 'Observation and Holiday Diary' as seen through the eyes of Pike and Rufus.

      Scrapper is one of the characters in the book and above are his sketch ideas in the original hand-drawn 'Observation' and the lino blocks followed by his spread in the final printed book.
      In real life he was called Axle and he guarded and patrolled the yard of a car breaker for rats and other undesirables.
