Pike, autumn and anticipation

The first Pike fishing expedition of the season and the catch, well that was two Pike of around three pounds and one fish lost in the lily pads. Not brilliant but better than a blank, and we're up and running.
Because of the density of lily pads which seem to have thrived over the long summer and then the 'Indian Summer' I don't think I'll be going back to the lakes until after the first frost or a spell of cold weather at least. The barometer is falling tonight, as is the temperature and the wind is rising with rain promised, the weather seems to be changing, while I was at the lakes the leaves were flying off the trees and showering onto the water.

Meanwhile it's definitely time to make up some more traces and new floats and to make a decision on the next venue. Drain or river? Perhaps one of each on consecutive days and then there's a large farm pond that has a good head of Pike and Perch...
Strange how the cooler weather brings raised levels of optimism and anticipation just like springtime with the run-up to June 16.
      Things can only get better.
