F15s, turning fuel into noise

      A pair of F15s, from the 48th Fighter Wing based at Lakenheath, dogfighting above the house. A little earlier they were really low, right on top of the house and making a magnificent noise, raw power that has certainly become a part of the soundtrack of this particular area of Fenland.
      Needless to say when they were lower I didn't have the camera, the rather weedy shot above was taken when they returned but were higher. However I wouldn't have missed the lighting of the afterburners as one aircraft went vertical, what a sight.
      Nice to know that they can find us easily when I telephone about the hovering lights over the orchard at night.
      Stand down men, but be at the end of the runway ready to go when the phone rings.
