This is a tin that used to contain 50 "Gold Flake" Honey Dew cigarettes; the kind of tin that usually turned up on birthdays and at Christmas with the toffees and a bottle of whisky as a special treat.
We found this one in a junk shop and the added bonus of an empty tin is that it makes a proper storage space for precious things like special buttons, badges, fishing hooks and floats.
Who was the original owner? Does he have still have a collection of these lovely old reminders of the past? Is he wracked with a hacking cough?
We'll never know.
