Trout not Pike, and a curious cameo

This week a few hours were spent at a different tempo. They were spent fly fishing for trout.
The weather was windy and wet but at least it wasn't freezing cold. Two Rainbow Trout caught, two threw the barbless hook whilst performing aerobatics as the F15s from Lakenheath passed overhead and six good swirls to the floating black hopper were missed.
Having not been trout fishing for over three years I put that down to being a bit rusty but all of the takes and pulls added to the excitement and anticipation.
Then there was the curious part, four Perch up to 12ozs caught on a dry fly? I've never done that before and all four of the sergeants went straight back into the clear water of the lake to torment me on my next visit.
Mind you, at the end of the week it will be back to the piking and maybe a Perch or two as a bonus.
