The last straw

We all know that sinking feeling when life is too much and everything is getting you down. Well this lonely reed at the edge of a drain seems have a very bad touch of that very feeling.
It's bending under the weight of the frost and ice and slowly leaning and curving towards the icy surface. After the buffeting it must have had from all the wind and rain we're surprised that it's still hanging on and hasn't collapsed into the water already.
Back in the orchard the dried-up and dead Cow Parsley from last year is standing up well in the shelter of the fruit trees, the compost of rotting and fermenting Golden Delicious apples will no doubt give next years plants a head start, that or a headache anyway.
Anyone for flowering arranging inspiration and materials?
