Frost, sun and rainbow

The dust got knocked off the trout rods at the weekend and a trip to a local lake was under way within hours. The weather conditions on the day were not propitious, with a hard frost and a flat calm and, needless to say, the flat calm soon turned into waves being driven by an Easterly wind and in bright sunshine too.
One trout was lost through lack of concentration after hours with neither a take nor the sight of a fish rising. Finally a good pull on a green buzzer and a Rainbow Trout of about two pounds was eventually netted.
Next week another expedition and maybe I had better start tying some flies in preparation.
