Hawthorn hedgerow

Walking the two terriers along some of the droves has become an olfactory overload. The scent of the hawthorn bushes has taken over from that of the yellow rapeseed flowers and on a calm day the aroma is quite dizzying.
There are odd places where, a long time ago, there must have been farmworker's cottages and although the labourers and their cottages have long disapeared the shrubs, bushes and trees that were in their gardens continue to grow and seed as a natural legacy for the Fenland landscape.
Long may it continue we say and now it's dog walking time so lets all get sneezing.
