Let's do it backwards



      This is a rather splendid piece of printed ephemera from the eighteenth century printed from a copper plate and then hand coloured. You can even see the plate impression around the edges.
      Now the amazing thing about this piece of printing, well it is for us, is that it was all engraved the wrong way around. All that copperplate writing for goodness sake and the engraving of the classical scene at the top.
      I wonder how long the apprenticeship was before they let you loose on a real job.
