One of the dykes that we walk alongside with the two terriers is finally teeming with tadpoles. For quite a while we thought that this had been a poor spawning year with just the odd frog and toad visible but with the advent of some consistently warmer weather the tadpoles are swarming all along a quarter mile length of channel in the reeds and water weed.
This section of dyke is connected by a labyrinthine network of other dykes to the Middle Level and because of this the resident perch are enjoying a time of plenty and not having to work for their dinner.
