On one of the dog walking routes we walk around the perimeter of this wild and overgrown orchard. At the moment the two terriers are forbidden entry and, inevitably, this simply makes it more attractive to them when they are put on the lead.
There are foxes, muntjack deer, roe deer, rabbits, badgers and nesting pheasants. The real problem are the muntjack bucks who pack a formidable set of tusks and are very protective of their young so, until the young are more mobile, the green jungle is out of bounds.
The terriers will be in there soon enough helping whilst we are picking the Laxtons Early plums so they'll just have to be patient and search the dyke sides and brinks instead.
