Ripening reds

There are some real autumn colours starting to appear in the hedgerows, reds particularly and here's a couple of really glowing samples. The leaves on the deciduous trees are beginning to look tired and some of the poplars are already showering leaves into the wind.

It's hard to believe that by the New Year every one of those thousands of berries will have disappeared, eaten by the birds as the winter takes hold of the countryside.
Let's not get all gloomy though, there's autumn to run its course yet and the usual colour explosion on the trees.
       We'll keep you posted.
