The Hawthorn bush by the back gate has been absolutely festooned in haws but gradually over the last few weeks the birds have been eating their fill and then decorating the patrol vehicle in a very expressionistic modern art style.
Mostly the visitors to this larder have been Blackbirds like the one here and Pigeons, Thrushes and Starlings but now the Fieldfares have arrived for the winter and within days you can guarantee they'll have the bush stripped bare.
There doesn't seem to be any kind of rationing in the avian world, just eat your fill and then move on to the next feast.
And if the feasts run out? Just move on again.
