It may only be a little detail but we did like this Victorian wrought, or cast iron ventilator that we found when we were walking the two terriers. Obviously it was used in place of an air brick by some discerning builder many, many years ago and lets air in while keeping rodents out.
At some point though somebody has painted the Victorian ironwork in what appears to be a kind of heritage green and now it's all weathering and rusting away. I'm going to keep my eye on this and if it falls out of the derelict building it'll be a case of finders keepers, and we'll find a use for it somewhere.
It's just a pity it wasn't Norfolk Bog Door Blue.
