The two Jack Russells, Minnow and Barney are snuggled up in the warmth of the wood burner on the narrow boat. Meanwhile the pike, perch and zander cruise around under the hull watching and waiting as ice is forming in the margins. The pike float on the calm surface of the drain doesn't move,
probably because it fell off the Christmas tree into the water.
Out on the Fen, at the far end of a dyke, there's a candle glowing in every window of a cottage
