The devil is in the detail



      More architectural detail in the form of building ties and on this gable end the blacksmith has gone all ecclesiastical with his art. There are a couple more mundane examples below and it seems obvious that the owners don't like them as much; they haven't even been given a coat of nice new, shiny black Hammerite.
      There are always a few questions asked when you look at these old buildings a little more closely; a small window has been blocked-up but two neat, round holes are visible. What for? We think to facilitate the entry of birds for nest building. Possibly.
      Meanwhile it's a pity the electrician didn't work as neatly or as artistically as the blacksmith.
