March has roared into April and although the velocity of the wind has reduced considerably it is still blowing a gale.
The last evening of March brought an absolute brahma of a dramatic sky as the sun was setting and inevitably we were expecting some truly dramatic weather to go with it. In the end all we got was a little splash of rain and the storm tracked off elsewhere to give somebody else a real battering.
That's a sky that would have stopped JMW Turner in his tracks but I think he would have had to tie himself to a fence post or tree and cement the easel into the ground before setting up his canvass and catching the fleeting moment.
Now it's finally all quiet on the West Norfolk front.
Yes, sky looks a bit " angry ". Was the last sentence a refrence to The Strangers "All Quiet on the Western Front" ? Big game for Ipswich today.
ReplyDeleteStranglers I meant.
ReplyDeleteI think Elton John, when he was good, had a song with the same title too. Boro play Watford on Monday, big games all round, there'll be few twists and turns yet. John
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to forget that once upon a time, a long, long while ago Elton did make some decent records ! The same could be said about the Stones and lots of others though. Amazing, fantastic records made between for about ten years and then complete dross for the next forty !
ReplyDeleteYeah, they're like old boxers, they just don't know when to quit and relax with their millions. Macartney is another. And The Who. They should just go fishing on their private river or lake. Lucky buggers.

It's amazing that almost without fail its the first few years of creativity that produces the best work. I don't think I can think of a single artist who has actually improved over a long period of time. As you say, McCartney being a prime example, in what, 6/7 years he produces dozens of brilliant, timeless pop songs and in the following 45 produces nothing memorable. Apart from The Frog Chorus of course.
ReplyDeleteBob Dylan?
ReplyDeleteWhat a sky, you do get good skies up there TT, Turner would have strapped himself to the fence to enjoy the storm for a sky like that! Have a beer tonight, your boys are top of the league!! TTFN Dickie
ReplyDeleteThere's a fair few unfortunately who I wish would put a lid on it - Elton most certainly and Sting gets on my jim jams - totally agree about the Who, love em as I do I just wish they would knock it on the head now. As for Macca........Frog Chorus would have been a good stop point (finish on a high as they say).
ReplyDeleteOn top for a few hours only… Sting sanctimonious prick. He should try tantric pike fishing.
ReplyDeleteJohn
Sing one of your faves then ? Yeah, His Bobness sometimes produces something really good, just when you think he's finished. I've got quite a few of his newer albums, but i don't think he's ever beaten Blonde on Blonde, Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61, Blood on the Tracks and Desire
